OEM ODM Printed electronics Membrane Switches Flex circuit is initially developed to replace traditional wire harnesses. Today, trends like IoT, connectivity, mobility, wearables, and miniaturization are driving their rapid growth across nearly every industry. Essentially, a flexible circuit is a network of conductors between thin dielectric films.
OEM ODM Copper Flex Membrane Switches Keyboard can be manufactured utilizing either polyester or polyimide (Kapton) as the base material, depending on your interface specifications. A very thin sheet of copper is laminated to the flexible film substrate then chemically etched to create conductive traces. They are known for their lower electrical resistance, higher conductivity, and the ability to solder active and passive components directly onto the assembly, making them suitable for high-reliability environments.
These keyboards can be designed as single-sided, double-sided, or multi-layered, and they can incorporate complex circuit patterns similar to those found on rigid printed circuit boards (PCBs).
Copper Flex keyboards can be constructed as:
- Single-sided - conductive traces one side of the film substrate
- Double-sided - conductive traces both sides of the film substrate
- Multi-Layer flex - a laminated "sandwich" of numerous layers with conductive traces
- Rigid-Flex - a laminated combination of a Copper Flex switch with a rigid FR4 PCB membrane switch.
